The graduate student award period for AY 2022-2023 has yet to begin. Please see the details below from last year's nomination process.
We are now accepting nominations for graduate student awards for the academic year 2022-2023. Nominations are due by April 2022 by 11:59 PM.
E-mail your nomination to gsa.esf@gmail.com. Please include: award category, nominee name, email, department, and brief (1-3 paragraph) explanation of the nomination.
The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is honoring graduate students for their work in teaching, public service, academic research, applied research, and inclusive excellence. Each recipient will be given $200 in gift cards as recognition for their accomplishments and efforts. $2,600 (enough for 13 recipients) has been allocated from the GSA Grants and Award Committee Budget. All currently enrolled graduate students, excluding the Grants and Awards Committee Chair, are eligible for nomination. Self-nomination is not permitted. The five award categories are:
Excellence in Academic Research Award Open to ESF faculty and graduate students to nominate graduate students for their accomplishments in academic research.
Excellence in Applied Research Award Open to ESF faculty and graduate students to nominate graduate students for their accomplishments in applied and actionable research and projects.
Excellence in Public Service Award Open to the entire ESF community to nominate graduate students committed to public services on campus and beyond.
Excellence in Teaching Award Open to the entire ESF community to nominate graduate students for the 2020-2021 academic year. Undergraduate students are encouraged to submit nominations.
Inclusive Excellence Award Open to the entire ESF community to nominate graduate students who made significant contributions to advance SUNY ESF’s mission of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the past academic year.
Process After the deadline, the Grants and Awards Committee will reach out to the nominated grads and ask them to submit a brief personal statement to help the committee understand and evaluate their work. After all personal statements are received, the committee will meet to deliberate and select the awardees. Awardees will be notified and receive their award by the end of the spring semester.
