Land ownership, rights and other issues of land tenure have been at the forefront of global environmental and geopolitical conflict for much of modern history. Human existence is tied to the land in very many ways, some material and some spiritual. In fact how we perceive the land ultimately leads to how we develop policies for its use, and is intricately linked to our own relationships, experiences and construction of space. It is therefore important for us to have critical discourse on issues of land management including conservation. The 2024 staging of the CNY Conference on Environmental Science and Studies (CCESS24) will provide a platform for student researchers at all stages to share their knowledge, experience and expertise in the several diverse areas of land management.
