Welcome to the Grants and Awards Committee Page!

The Graduate Student Association appropriates a portion of its annual budget to supporting graduate students in need of assistance in two areas: travel to professional conferences and completing research when no other funding sources are available.

Travel Reimbursement Grants are awarded twice a year and are meant to help cover the costs of hotel rooms, air travel, gas, etc. to and from a professional conference. Awards are for a maximum of $200 and students can only receive funding from the GSA once per academic year. Students must be presenting at a conference in order to be eligible for this award. For travel between October 1 and March 31, applications are  due on November 15 by 5 PM. For travel between April 1 and September 30, applications are due 5 pm, April 6.
Applications are to be submitted electronically as both a PDF file and word document to gsa.esf@gmail.com with "Attn: Jen Yantachka" in the subject heading. For application details see the GSA Travel Reimbursement_Spring 2012 document below.

Research in Need Grants are given once a year to students that have no alternative source of funding to complete their research. Past Research in Need Grants have funded activities from the purchasing of analytical standards to travel to a research site. Awards for 2012 are for a maximum of $500 and preference is given to students near completion of their degree. Applications are due by 5 pm, April 13. Applications are to be submitted electronically as both a PDF and a word document to gsa.esf@gmail.com with "Attn: Research In Need" in the subject heading. For more complete application instructions, please see the RIN Spring 2012 document below.

Finally, at the end of the academic year, the Graduate Student Association gives out a cash prize for each of the following awards: Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Public Service, and Excellence in Graduate Research. To nominate a graduate student for one of these three categories, e-mail gsa.esf@gmail.com (Attn: EIT, EIPS, EIGR) with the following information: your name, your nominee's name, and a brief paragraph about why you think they should win. Nominees will then be contacted and asked to fill out a brief application for consideration. Submissions should typically be sent by 5 pm, April 6th.
